Short, Sweet and to the Point
My junior year in high school, I attended a leadership camp where we could run for elected positions. I chose to run on the platform of “short, sweet and to the point” because the phrase fit me well for a few reasons. First, at under five feet tall, the first thing people typically notice about me is my height (or lack thereof). Second, I am often described as a sweet person: I am compassionate and hold myself to a high moral standard. Finally, I am to the point; although I pride myself on being positive and energetic, I am tactful and pragmatic. Through this six word cliche, I was able to establish myself as a loving, passionate and assertive person who knew exactly where my strengths lie. Over four years later, I am even more sure of who I am and how my leadership and communication skills can help me better our world.
Since childhood, I have loved to communicate with others. I have always been a voracious reader and writer, but my passion for digital media began in 2009, where I volunteered to create and maintain websites for two local non-profit organizations. In high school, I was an active member of our theatre department. In addition to my onstage roles, offstage I produced many of the programs, posters and apparel. By the time I arrived at Miami University, I was an active social media producer and was eager to study journalism, strategic communication and media during my college career. As a first-year student, I wrote for The Miami Student newspaper to sharpen my professional writing skills and was appointed to the position of Social Media Program Director for the Miami University Student Foundation (MUSF). In 2016, I served as one of two Vice Presidents for MUSF’s Family Auction and Senior Events. Through this role, I strengthened my event-planning and team-building skills with multiple major events that required a lot of planning. During the fall of 2016, I was the Assistant Director for Stage Left‘s production of Heathers: The Musical. This incredible experience taught me valuable organizational, leadership and time management skills that I will continue to utilize as the Executive Vice President for Miami University’s Panhellenic Association. I have used each of these experiences to shape me into a stronger communicator and the lessons I have learned so far will help me continue to grow in my career path and in my life.
I am often identified as creative with strong analytical skills. I am excited to utilize both of these characteristics to focus on how we can use media analytics and research to produce the best and most creative content for clients.
